Oldest Military Police Veteran Gene Stephens is Our Honored Guest at St. Robert Holiday Inn Express
This week is Military Police Week at Fort Leonard Wood. This community event will mark the 71st Anniversary of the Military Police Corps Regiment. This year’s theme is “Balancing the Force for Decisive Action.”
The week kicks off with our Regimental Conference, bringing in a selected group of Military Police senior leaders to focus on the strategic way ahead for Regiment as we support the future Army of 2020. The Senior Leader Conference is by “invitation only,” to Active Duty/Reserve/National Guard Military Police Command, Military Police Brigade and CID Group Commanders/Command Sergeants Major and other select leaders in COCOM, MACOM, and Corps.
Also, during the week, we will have the opportunity to support the Soldiers competing in the Annual Military Police Warfighter competition representing units from around our Regiment as they are tested both physically and mentally throughout the competition.
In addition, to this week’s event, the oldest living Military Police Army veteran in the country, Gene Stephens has been invited to a National Gathering, where he will be the guest of honor.
Gene was drafted back in 1941, just as the Army started its MP program. During World War II, Gene served as an MP in England and North Africa, escorting the war’s biggest names – Generals, even Eisenhower.
During this week’s conference, Mr. Stephens will be honored along with other military police from around the country. We are especially excited here at Holiday Inn Express Suites to have Mr. Gene Stephens as our honored guest.
